Hi all,
I am new to this site, as well as my desicion to travel to Australia. My boyfriend and I are getting married in June of 2007, and would like to move to Australia for roughley one year by september of 2007. I am just starting the imagration process. In the mean time, we are trying to figure out where we would like to move to. I would love to hear from anyone who has lived in or traveled to Brisbane, Sydney, Melborne, Perth...really just any of the major cities in Australia, west or eatern shore. What was or is your favorite area? What are some of the biggest attractions for you in these areas? COmparisons? Postives and negatives? I live in New York in the US now, and have really never travled anywhere major. My fiance' and I just know that we want to experience life in another country for some time before we move back to the US to start a family and settle down. Brisbane seems to be one of our top choices right now because it seems to be pretty centraley located. My biggest interests are the ocean, seeing the great barrier reef, learning how to serf, any outdoor activities (I love to white water raft, mountain clime, swim) and just seeing the different geographical marvals of Australia. I would not mind moving to a more remote area, but still close to Brisbane or another city so we could find local jobs and also experience city life in a different city other than NY. I use Google earth to cyber travel Australia all the time (it's a satelite program that can zoom in a show different areas of Australia or any other part of the world for that matter- highley recommend it).....anyway, I see so many different little towns, islands, and coastal regions that seem really interesting as well, but do not know anything about them. I would really love to meet some locals who can guide me a little bit in discovering the right place for us to experience this once in a life time opportunity. I have many more questions pertaining to jobs, social life, money, ect........so please give me a response if you have a few min.
Thanks- LYNN

Hi There,
I live in Brisbane and what can I say? The weather is absolutely brilliant (I've forgotten what winter is!!!). Although it did take me a bit of time to aclimatise to the humid summers we have - thank goodness for airconditioners! To help in your sewarch process, try this new website that offers some useful information about Brisbane:
I have found Brisbane to be a great base from which to explore the great outdoors - from the ocean to the mountains, rainforests and the outback - all within only a few hours from Brisbane City.
Good Luck! and please feel free to ask any questions.

Just a quick one. How did your move go? If you're not quite in Australia yet and still need answers to some of those questions (or just a chat), feel free to contact me. Happily help out in any way I can.
