I know this is a few hours drive North of Brisbane. About 4 1/2hrs actually but if you can drive to Bunderberg and visit Lady Musgrave Island make sure you do.
You can even camp on the island if you book prior. No facilities on the island though but one of the best places I've ever been to and somewhere I want to go back.
Depending on the time of year you can also see the turtle laying there eggs or them hatching on Mon Repo Beach.
